Winter at The Wilds Tour

Get a truly unique perspective when you take the Winter at The Wilds Tour for up-close interactions with the animals in our care. Bring your camera for this exclusive, one-of-a-kind safari, where you will have to opportunity to see giraffe and rhinos!

The Winter at The Wilds Tours take guests behind the scenes to view animals in their winter housing and exercise yards where you will also learn about special winter enrichment activities to keep the animals engaged. This year, we have made some modifications to these tours to help keep everyone safe following the recent State of Ohio COVID-19 order. For guests who have made the advance online reservations required for this tour, you will still meet your tour guide at the main parking lot but will then be escorted, driving your own vehicle to the giraffe and rhino barns (with the possibility of visiting the hoofstock barn).

While we won’t be going through the pastures, you will spend an extended time in each barn with your tour guide, who is part of our Animal Management team, learning about the natural history of these magnificent animals and how we care for them during the winter. Tour guides will stay socially distanced, and all medically able guests are required to wear face coverings for the duration of the tour due to the close proximity to the animals.

Advanced reservations and payment required at least 72 hours in advance. Tours will be held rain or shine; please dress appropriately.  We recommend comfortable footwear and casual clothing (dress for the weather), as there will be some walking. Closed-toe shoes required.

    Do you have gift shops?

There are a number of shops around the Square in Caldwell, some carrying gifts. And just outside the village is Gillespie’s, which has a lot of really nice gifts ranging from jewelry to toys to purses, etc.
