Vickie Ann (Guiler) Gardner

Vickie Ann (Guiler) Gardner, 67, of Cambridge, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday (April 15, 2021). Vickie passed away at Select Specialty Hospital of Newark, following a courageous battle with Covid-19.

She was born November 28, 1953 in Marietta, daughter of the late Carroll and Irene (Bates) Guiler.

Vickie was a former employee of Nationwide Insurance, served as a secretary for the Cambridge Church of Christ, was a former home health aide for Elder Choice Home Health Care, and an administrative assistant for the Cambridge Regional Cancer Center. While employed in these various positions, she was a steadfast homemaker, and a babysitter, caring for children in her home for over thirty years.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, attending in both Cambridge and New Concord, volunteering to work in the church bible classes and as a teacher in vacation bible school, she volunteered at Southeastern Med as a Red Cross Volunteer and volunteered as a Guernsey County poll worker.

Vickie was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians. She loved traveling, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her own family, as well as time spent with her church family.

Mrs. Gardner was a 1971 Graduate of Cambridge High School.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Ernest ‘Skip’ Gardner, whom she married on April 23, 1988; two sons, Curtis Figgins of Massillon and Chad Gardner of Marble Cliff; a daughter, Amber Hamilton of New Concord; a granddaughter, Alexandria Love Hamilton of New Concord; a sister, Sherry (& James) Meredith of Cambridge; two aunts, Shirley Jones and Wilma Bates; an uncle, Rev. Myron (& Linda) Guiler; a nephew, Scott (& Beth) Meredith; a niece, Tiffany (& Dan) Meronoff; a sister-in-law, Laurie (& Jeff) Tucker; a niece, Jessica (& Nick) Daniels, a niece, Hannah Tucker; a brother-in-law, Jeff (& JoLee) Gardner; seven great nieces; and Polar, her beloved Cocker Spaniel.

Private services will be held Monday (April 19, 2021) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, with Evangelists Phillip Grear and Terry Townsend officiating.

Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.

As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Vickie’s name to one of the following organizations: 1) New Concord Church of Christ, 1333 Maple Ln, New Concord OH 43762; or 2) Guernsey County Dog Shelter, 62824 Bennett Ave, Cambridge OH 43725.
