Gary Edward Keeton

Gary Edward Keeton of Harmony, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on June 19, 2024. Born on June 15, 1942, in Canton OH, he was the son of the late Hilles G. and Wanda A. Mazgay Keeton.

Gary grew up in Caldwell, OH, before obtaining his Bachelor’s degree from Marietta College in Marietta, OH. He later earned Master’s degrees in mathematics and education from The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) and Ohio University (Athens, OH).

For much of his career, Gary was a math teacher at North Allegheny Senior High School in Wexford, PA. He also coached high school basketball for many years. After his retirement from North Allegheny, he taught at Robert Morris College and drove for the Butler Auto Auction. He was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.

Gary had a passion for teaching. He enjoyed playing basketball and football, running and roller skating, as well as playing the piano.

Gary is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Eilene McCormick Keeton, his daughter, Kimberly Kristine Keeton, and his son, Geoffrey McCormick Keeton, as well as siblings Judy Frederick, Debra Kemmer, and Michael Keeton.

Gary will be remembered for his friendliness, his kindness, and his ability to explain just about anything to just about anyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Visiting hours for friends and family will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Park United Presbyterian Church, 109 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.

Gary will be laid to rest at Plum Creek Cemetery, 670 Center New Texas Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15239.
