Zeps Compete at Marietta Icebreaker Indoor Track Meet

Shenandoah’s indoor track athletes traveled to Marietta College Dyson Baudo Recreation Center on January 12 for the first local high school meet of 2025. They competed with over 400 kids from 38 schools across Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. As a team, the four SHS boys scored an impressive third place (51 points) out of 21 scoring schools. Likewise, the six SHS girls placed 10th (14 points) out of 24 scoring schools. Granville placed first overall for boys (95 points) and girls (192 points).
Braxton Barnett led the boys team with four first place finishes, scoring 40 points. In field events, he jumped 6-2 (high jump) and 21-8.5 (long jump). In track events, his winning times were 8.02 (55m hurdles) and 24.29 (200m dash). In the 3200m race, Chuck Estadt placed fourth (10:54.37, five points), followed by Emmitt Slevin in fifth (12:08.57, four points) and Kaden Rossiter in seventh (12:16.63, 2 points). Estadt placed 12th in the 1600m (5:06.47). Slevin placed 10th in the 800m (2:17.08).
Ida Estadt was the top scorer for the girls team, placing second in the 3200m race (12:00.40, eight points). Alyssa Crum scored six points with her third place finish in the 800m (2:32.43), followed by Jusdena Clark in 21st (3:03.52) and Abbey Tewksbary in 31st (3:23.38). Clark placed 22nd in the 1600m (6:46.66), followed by Tewksbary in 37th (7:47.13). In the sprinting events, Crum placed 14th in the 200m dash (30.47), followed by Mackenzie Williamson in 17th (30.87) and Rachel Haga in 28th (32.18). In the 55m dash, Williamson placed 13th (8.18) and Haga placed 24th (8.46).
The Zeps indoor track team will travel to New Concord on Sunday, January 26 for the next high school meet, held at Muskingum University.
