Andrew C. Archer, Sr.

Andrew C. Archer, Sr., age 94, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Altercare Summit Acres. He was born February 26, 1931, in Stock Twp., Noble County, son of the late William Henry and Cecelia Elizabeth Crum Archer. Andy was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War from 1951-1953, having served in Germany. He served in postal delivery and as a water purification specialist.  He was employed in his early years by Crock and Shafer Construction for 22 years and retired from the Mahle Corporation after 22 years. He also owned and operated his own construction company for several years. Andy was a member of the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping and campfires at his cabin, cooking, reading, and working word search and jigsaw puzzles. He was also always building something. He was devoted to his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Andrew Clarence Archer, Jr.; three sisters, Lucy Dick, Clara Morrison, and Irene Hupp; and four brothers, Howard, Bernard, Paul, and James Archer.

Surviving are his wife, Dorla Ann Thompson Archer, whom he married August 27, 1955; his children, Sharon (Steven) Mooney, Deborah (Shaun) Neff, Steve Archer, and Jeff (Sarah) Archer, all of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close friend, Budd “Pup” Rich of Mt. Ephraim.

Friends may call Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, July 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Chester Pabin as celebrant. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at St. Michael Parish Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. An online guestbook may be signed at www.mcvay-perkins.com
