Dorla Archer

Dorla A. Archer, age 90, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, August 4, 2025, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born April 17, 1935, in Noble County, daughter of the late Francis and Minnie Estadt Thompson. Dorla was employed by Cleveland Graphite Bronze for four and a half years and by NCR for 20 years. She was also a licensed beautician who had a manager’s license. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Catholic Women’s Club. She was also a charter member of the Caldwell Eagles and a member of the Caldwell Moose and the Marietta VFW Auxiliary. Dorla enjoyed flower gardening, scrapbooking, and she loved her horses. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Archer, Sr., whom she married August 27, 1955, and who died July 24, 2025; one son, Andrew Clarence Archer, Jr.; three sisters,  Rita Colbert, Norma Lee Frye, and Carol Bibee; and a dear friend, Hazel Fogle.

Surviving are her children, Sharon (Steven) Mooney, Deborah (Shaun) Neff, Steve Archer, and Jeff (Sarah) Archer, all of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Nelson Thompson of Caldwell; a special niece, Sue Leach; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed  Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Carlisle with Rev. Fr. Chester Pabin as celebrant.
