G. Alan Saling

G. Alan Saling, Sr., age 69, of Caldwell, died Thursday, December 18, 2025 at his home. Alan was born August 15, 1956, in Cambridge, son of the late Elmer L. and Elizabeth Cora Bond Saling. He was a 1974 graduate of Shenandoah High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Alan was a retired truck driver with 23 years of service and was Catholic by faith. He was an avid gamer and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His family remembers him as a great husband, father and grandfather, who was loving and understanding.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Saling; a daughter, Carissa Saling; a brother James Elmer Saling and infant sister, Shirley Saling.

Surviving are his wife, Kelly J. Whetstone Saling, whom he married October 9, 1983; his children, Dustin A. Saling of Caldwell, Gerald A. “AJ” (LeAna) Saling, Jr. of Cambridge, Brandon C. Saling of Summerfield, Travis L.F. Saling of Summerfield, Gilbert D. Saling of Caldwell, Kyle L.H. Saling of Cambridge and Marylynn R. Hace of Belle Valley; brothers, Darrell L. Saling of Fulda and Christopher W. (Erin) Saling of Caldwell; grandchildren, Axle, Blazze, Kannan, Cyrus, Kalahen, Aryah, Vandersyn and Meilani; his special weiner dog, Rex; Mr. Kitty and many special nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends may call Monday, December 22, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street in Caldwell. The funeral will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor George Clark officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to McVay-Perkins Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
