Halley’s Ridge Cemetery Association Celebrates 85 Years!

Come on out and share in the fun!

The 85^th Annual Homecoming of the Halley’s Ridge Cemetery Association takes place this Sunday, August 30, beginning at 1 p.m. Nancy Buckey said that the hope is that a later start time will give people plenty of time to get there after church.

The Association is proud to be furnishing Dana Hill BBQ’s pulled pork again this year, along with buns and sauces.

Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish of a salad, side, meat or dessert to share with your fellow attendees.

Immediately following the meal there will be a few surprises to celebrate the 85^th anniversary. Everyone is asked to come prepared with their favorite Halley’s Ridge story to tell, or maybe a special talent to share with those in attendance.

Drawings and numerous door prizes only available for those attending will be awarded. You must be present to win. Be sure to sign the attendance book upon your arrival. That’s how winners’ names are drawn.

The annual raffle will also be held again, with tickets available through any officer or trustee, and at the Homecoming. Ticket price remains $5. Some of the prizes include: A wheeled cooler stocked for your next picnic or lake outing; a Saling’s Custom Meat package; a generous gas card. You don’t have to be present to win this raffle only.

Finally the annual business meeting will be held, and questions and input are welcome. If you  have a topic of discussion, please drop a note prior to the Homecoming. At this meeting, those who have passed away since last year will be remembered.

Bring your family, friends and neighbors and come out to have a great time! Remember to bring photos, mementos and stories of the past 84 Homecomings! There will be a table set up for displays. This takes place rain or shine. Questions? Call Treasurer Nancy Buckey at 740-541-5095.
