Harley Robert “Bob” Chandler

Harley Robert “Bob” Chandler age 87, of Macksburg, Ohio passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his home, on his beloved farm. He was born June 1, 1932 a son of the late Ernest Hanford “Hank” and Lila Belle Mincks Chandler in Crooked Tree, on what is now his son Jeff’s Farm.

 In his early years, Bob worked with horses in the timber business. He worked with the railroad, Nicolozakes mining, former Cleveland Graphite Bronze plant, Interlake Steel, served his neighbors as a trustee for Jackson Township, Superintendent for the Ohio Department of Highways, and later a road worker for the township.

Bob enjoyed farming, gardening, playing Euchre, cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and any activity that included horses. He had a special love for horse and pony pulls, attending his final one in October of last year at the Lancaster County Fair. He loved music, called square dances, and enjoyed dancing himself.

 In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, “Midge” Rummer Chandler; wife Mildred E. Wagner Chandler; wife Betty Hughes Chandler; and sister Marjorie Raub.

Those left to cherish his memory are children, Jeff, Mike, and Susie Chandler; stepchildren Darrell (Janet) Mincks, Jerry (Barb) Mincks, Debbie (Scott) Mankins and Walt (Leeanne) DeLancey; brother Edward (Betty) Chandler; brother-in-law Robert Raub. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will lovingly remember his smile, stories, and twinkle in his eye. A nephew Darrell Raub, along with friend Martha McCoy were special to Bob.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A graveside service will follow visitation Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Crooked Tree Cemetery near Dexter City, Ohio, with Rev. William Pickenpaugh and Rev. Jim Porter co-officiating, with burial to follow. We ask all visitors to abide by the social distancing protocols set forth by the CDC during all services and visitors are encouraged to wear protective masks.
