James (Jim) R. Robinson

James (Jim) R. Robinson, 85, of Northfield, Ohio passed away June 4, 2020 at his home after a long illness.

Jim was born August 17 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, Grace D. Robinson and Geo. G. Robinson; two brothers, Jack and Bernard; a sister, Beverly J. Hutchinson; three children; Jane Robert, Jerry R. and Kimberly Dawn. Jim also had a sister that he never saw or knew her name.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean (Ogle) Robinson, Diana Lynn Davies and a granddaughter, Danielle Jean Davies of Irvine, California.

Jim’s extended family who preceded him in death: His father and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Ogle; sister-and-brother-in-law Norman and Janet Kocher; brother –and-sister-in-law Edgel and Carol Ogle; Brother-ion-law Richard (Dick) Hutcheson.

Surviving are his brother and sisters-in-law Edward and Mary Jane Ogle of Kansas, Mo; Joan and Gary Sabo of Granville, Ohio; Joyce Ogle and Tom McElfresh; many nephews and nieces, many great nephews and nieces.

Jim graduated from Dexter City High School in 1952 and Marietta College in 1958. He and Gloria Jean Ogle were married August 18, 1956. They were married almost 64 years.

Jim enjoyed being with her as she was his best friend. They enjoyed taking various car trips through the United States on their vacations.

They enjoyed flying to California to visit their daughter and granddaughter. They also enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas.

Jim worked in retailing sales and security. He was a scale master for aluminum smelting for over 15 years. In 1995 he started working with his son, Jerry, who owned Continental Boring Inc.

Jim was very proud of his family. He liked sports and enjoyed watching them on television. He and Gloria took his granddaughter to Disneyland many times when she was young and many trips to Cedar Point with  his own children in the summer.

Jim was fond of golden retrievers, of which he had three. He loved cats and dogs. He was a lifelong Methodist and belonged to the Macedonia Methodist Church for over 50 years. He has lived in Northfield Center, Ohio since 1962.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the United Methodist Church of Macedonia, Ohio 44056, or to the Humane Society in Jim’s memory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
