William Dennis Bickerstaff

William Dennis Bickerstaff, age 64, of Leesville, Louisiana, died August 16, 2020, in Leesville. He was born December 24, 1955, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, son of Therma “Windy” Bickerstaff Barnhart of Caldwell and the late William E. Bickerstaff, who died in October, 1988. He was a 1974 graduate of Parkersburg South High School, and he was a United States Navy veteran, having retired following 20 years of service to his country. He was known in Cajun country as a musician who played his violin, Caroline, and his electric fiddle, Adeleah. He enjoyed playing several nights a week with a rock-n-roll band, at church on Sunday, and in the parish chamber orchestra where he was first violin.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, William O. and Mamie Bickerstaff and Abraham and Daisy Whipkey.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his children, Digna Pangaley, Jackelyn Pangaley, Jannette Bickerstaff, Anna Bickerstaff, and John Bickerstaff; his siblings, Deidre (Jeff) Tracewell, David (Tammy) Bickerstaff, Douglas (Tracey) Bickerstaff, and Damon (Cherylinn) Bickerstaff; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his step-father, Jack Barnhart.

Funeral arrangements were arranged by the local veteran’s organization in Louisiana. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio, is caring for family and friends in the Ohio and West Virginia area.
