Edward G. Ditch Jr.

Edward G. Ditch Jr. age 86 of Caldwell, OH passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, December 20, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born January 27, 1934 in Cambridge, OH a son of the late Dr. E.G. Sr. and Mary Louise Samuels Ditch.

He was a Caldwell Graduate and attended Mount Union College. He retired following many years of service caring for his community from the Noble County Job & Family Services. He served and protected his nation in the US Army. Ed had a passion for photography, music and reading. He enjoyed visiting the ocean and more so loved watching his wife enjoy the ocean. He was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church and strived to be a good Christian man.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law Reginald E. and Vivien Sliter Phillips; sister-in-law Holly V. Phillips.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and the love of his life Pamela Phillips Ditch, whom he married August 16, 1963; children Beth V. (Terry) Renner of Zanesville, OH, and their children Nicholas R. Andrews and M. Josie Andrews; Edward Gerald “Jerry” (Cherish) Ditch III of Caldwell and their children Corrin Elizabeth Ditch and Jeremy Edward Ditch; Laura P. (Ben) Walker of Cambridge and their children Alycin S. Robinson, Levi Phillip Walker, Eva Louise Walker; siblings Mary Louise (Dr. Fred) Cox of Caldwell, George Samuel Ditch, and Lynn Taafe both of California. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who fondly called him “Uncle Grandpa.” Eddie was also blessed with many special friends.

He had a generous heart and a loving nature. His family is comforted knowing he is at peace with our Lord and the tears we shed are for ourselves. This husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend will be greatly missed.

Private family services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Eddie’s honor to the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 537 Main Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724.     Pam, Ed will be missed by many as he touched many lives in a positive manner. I know I thoroughly enjoyed working with him through the child support office and we relied on one another many times. I tried to call the cell phone number he had given to me, but he must have given up number. He was a wonderful and respected man.
