Ruby L. Roe
Ruby L. Roe, age 88, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, at her home. She was born January 4, 1932, in Keithtown, Noble County, Ohio, daughter of the late William “Bill” and Virgie Rogers McMannis. Ruby was a 1950 graduate of Dexter City High School. She retired as Postmaster for the United State Post Office in Ava, where she served for over 20 years. She was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church and the Mt. Moriah Chapter #506, Order of the Eastern Star in Beverly. Ruby loved her dogs and cats. She was a devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert C. “Gib” Roe, whom she married December 6, 1973, and who died March 8, 1997; and her siblings, Melba Vandevender, William “Junior” McMannis and Sam McMannis.
Surviving are her children, Kathy L. (Kelly) Snyder of Canton and Kenneth “Kenny” R. (Tammy) Pierce of Caldwell; four grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Piece, Bradley (Coleen) Pierce, Rachel Snyder, and Lisa Snyder; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Pierce, Grayden Pierce, Samuel Pierce, and Chloe Snyder; her siblings, Fern Loene Kelby of Waterford, James (Betty) McMannis of Beverly, Charles “Ray” (Linda) McMannis of East Canton, Mary (Lou) Chastain of Canton, and Sue (George) Klintworth of Lowell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend of 17 years, Larry McCullough.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A private service will be observed by the family with Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Guests are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing as required by the state of Ohio at the funeral home.
