Nellie Rowena Chandler
Nellie Rowena Chandler age 93, of Caldwell, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Southeastern Med in Cambridge, Ohio. She was born August 28, 1928 in Noble County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Fulton C. and Hallie M. Shriver Hughes.
She was a member of the Keith United Methodist Church in Keithtown, Ohio, Wonder What Quilting Club, and Curley Q’s Square Dancing Club. She was a trustee and groundskeeper for the Keith Cemetery for many years. She was formerly a cook at the Caldwell High School and worked in the meat department of the former Gateway IGA Grocery Store. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a gracious host to whoever stopped by for a visit.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edward V. “Eddie” Chandler, whom she married October 24, 1947 and who passed away October 7, 2014; two sons, infant William Chandler and Bill E. Chandler; siblings Jessi Swank, Ethel Farson, Vernon Hughes, Gerald Hughes, and Erma Louise Hughes.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Phil (Beth) Chandler of Caldwell and Steven (Debbie) Chandler of Gilbert, AZ; seven grandchildren, Kurt (Melissa) Chandler, Stacy (Jon) Morgenstern, Jason Chandler, Bryan (Kimberly) Chandler, Justin (Megan) Chandler, Adam (Jessi) Chandler, and Nick (Puja) Chandler; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and daughter-in-law Sherry Chandler of Caldwell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Keith United Methodist Church, 17140 George Lawrence Road, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Pastor Jim Shuman officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Eddie in the Keith Cemetery.
