Delmar Ray Hesson

Delmar Ray Hesson, age 64 of Beverly, Ohio passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1957 in Marietta, Ohio, the son of Dorothy Lorey (Lori) Hesson of Elba, Ohio and the late Walter Everett Hesson. He was raised in Elba, Ohio with his four siblings.

He was a 1975 graduate of Caldwell High School. He married Penny (Doan) Anderson in 1979. Together they had a son, Jeremy Hesson, and daughter, Amanda (Hesson) Dunbarger, whom they raised in Lower Salem until they divorced in 1992. He was a well pumper for C.R. Feick and a foreman at Vadakin & Nolan’s Industrial Coating before becoming disabled in 2006 and welcoming a full-time position as PaPaw and babysitter to his precious grandchildren.

Delmar never knew a stranger, and to know him was to love him. He loved caring for and spoiling his dogs and farm animals, took much pride in his vegetable garden and yard, loved fishing and coon, deer, & turkey hunting with family. He could often be found watching his favorite Westerns on the television. He was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes, but most important to him were his grandchildren and everything they did. He was the best and most loving dad and PaPaw to not only his kids and grandkids, but to others in Caldwell and Beverly communities that he was a part of. You would always find him in or near his grandsons’ or granddaughters’ dugout or in the stands. He never missed a game and rarely missed a practice.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Iva Hesson and Raymond and Cora Lorey; and a brother-in-law Gary Fogle.

Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother, are his siblings Denver (Doreen) Hesson of Elba, Connie (Bill) Johnson of Lowell, Marsha (Ronald) Sanford of Macksburg, and Jeff Hesson of Dexter City; his children Jeremy (Heather) Hesson of Beverly, and Amanda (Chris) Dunbarger of Lowell; his grandchildren Grady, Mia, Jenna, and Emmy Hesson, Hannah Jones, Riley and Eli Dunbarger. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
