Darlene J. Schafer

Darlene J. Schafer, age 78, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Sunday, January 9, 2022, at her home. She was born November 30, 1943, in Martins Ferry, daughter of the late John and Vera Piko. Darlene was a 1961 graduate of Martins Ferry High School, and she retired as a centerless grinder operator from the Dana Corporation. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell and the United Steel Workers Union. Darlene enjoyed classic cars, especially her red 2002 T-Bird, and she enjoyed camping.

She is survived by her husband, David Lee Schafer, Sr., whom she married September 3, 1993; her children, David (Kim) Wagner of Cambridge, Doug (Amy) Wagner of Clarington, and Darrin (Carrie) Wagner of St. Clairsville; her step-children, Ruth (Steve) Johnson of Mt. Ephraim, Sharon (Gary) Baker of Hoskinsville, Tom (Kathy) Bettinger, Sr. of Caldwell, Darlene Lovette (David Myers) of Quaker City, Marsha (Jeff) Border of Caldwell, and David (Beth) Schafer, Jr. of Caldwell; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her beloved morkie, Miss Maggie.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday, January 12 at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
