Raymond Olon “Ray” Buckey

Raymond Olon “Ray” Buckey, 68, of Senecaville, passed away Thursday (July 14, 2022) in Daytona Beach, Florida, while vacationing with his family.

He was born August 9, 1953 in Cambridge, son of Clifford Eugene and Patricia Louise (Cowgill) Buckey of Cambridge.

Ray was a 1971 graduate of Cambridge High School and attended M.A.T.C. for two years.  He was a proud ironworker for 30 years and was a member of Local #549. After retiring, Ray became a realtor with Carol Goff, where he enjoyed meeting and helping families find a new home.

He was a member of Elks Lodge #448.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Dolores Hogan.

He is survived by his parents, Cliff and Pat Buckey of Cambridge; his wife of 36 years, Karen (Hogan) Buckey, whom he married May 17, 1986; his children, Matt (Tara) Dodson of Byesville and Krissy (Josh) Myers of Byesville; five grandchildren – who lovingly called him “Pap” – Chase Myers, Jerry and Benny Dodson, Andrew and Tatum Parry; a brother, Kenny (Renee) Buckey of Ava; a sister, Debi (Matt) Stiers of Salesville; a sister-in-law, Chris Evans of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.

Ray was a kind and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was always willing to help anyone in any way he could. One of his philosophies was always “waste not, want not”. Ray had an infectious smile and giggle. His family and friends will miss the “Safety Director” of the group, and will be forever grateful.
