Military Appreciation Night Set for Shenandoah’s First Home Football Game

At July’s regular meeting of the Noble Local School Board of Education, head football coach John Jones presented to the board the details of the upcoming military appreciation night set for the first home game of the Zeps’ high school football team. The game will be happening at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 and all veterans will be admitted free of charge. Shenandoah Head Football Coach John Jones said, “We have been working closely with Sergeant Geffery Gehrlich, who happens to be the number one recruiter in the nation for the Army National Guard. It’s been awesome having him to work with; we are very lucky. Plans for a half-time award tribute for a local veteran are also in the works.”

There will be military vehicles on site for the public to enjoy looking at, including a Humvee, and a crane is set to fly the American flag. The entire football team will be wearing camo jerseys that evening. Leading up to this event the players have participated in multiple workouts with the Army National Guard.

In other business the board approved one-year contracts for John Jones for the position of Business Education Teacher and Trudy Tuttle for the position of Elementary Guidance Counselor.

The board approved Kristine Schoeppner to transfer from elementary guidance to the high school guidance position.

The board approved many contracts including Sheena Gheen, Amy Butcher, Gene Hill, Teresa Perkins, Diana Tolliver, Kimberly Warner, Peggy Mason, Roberta Henderson, Dan Wesson, Dee Frakes, Scott Gallaugher, Robin Archer, Brooke Cowgill, Stephanie Morgan, John Vinson, Kathy Long, Kayrola Housley, Taylor Franklin, Sophia Blattner, Angela Reynolds, Kristy Bettinger, Raymond Ebert, Rachel Wolfe, Sarah Carpenter, Mark Withrow and Jacob Sudduth for teacher substitutes. Darrel Long and Cole Mallett were approved as custodian substitutes. Jessica Ovens, Melinda Ball, Maria Schockling, Danielle St. Clair, Angela Reynolds, Kayla McCollum, Debra Hall, Kayla Wehr and Karen Hagans were approved as substitute aids. Angela Rossiter, Peggy Mason, Melinda Ball and Karen Hagans were approved as secretarial substitutes. Ruth Ellen Stoneking, Tiffany Klinginsmith, Arden Bond, Darci Lucas, Connie Brown, Stephanie Kasserman, Kayla King and Karen Hagans were approved as food service substitutes. Kristy Bettinger and Kassandra Shafer were approved to be nurse substitutes and Tammy Farnsworth was approved to be a driver substitute.

Four supplemental contracts were approved for John Jones, Weight Room Supervisor, Shawn Stritz, High School Soccer Coach, Billy Mobley, Jr High Soccer Coach and Beth Warner, Lead Mentor. Also, Dustin Hughes and Jaden Porter were approved as supplemental volunteers for high school football.

Finally, the board accepted two administrative resignations including Marcia Murphy, School Improvements, Federal Programs and Student Services Coordinator and Emma Marshall, High School Guidance Counselor.
