Lela Mae Zaleha

Lela Mae Zaleha, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, November 11, 2022, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born April 23, 1930, in Noble County, daughter of the late Howard and Clara Davis Guiler. Lela was a 1948 graduate of Sarahsville High School and she retired as a cook for Noble Local Schools after serving many years. She was former president of the Shenandoah Band Boosters and she loved watching the Shenandoah sports teams. Lela enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, bowling, and taking bus trips. She loved attending her grandsons’ sporting and band events. Lela was loving, hard-working and smart, and she was always there when her family needed her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Andy Zaleha, whom she married June 6, 1953, and who died May 7, 2018; one daughter, Patricia Elaine Zaleha; two sisters, Beatrice Frank and Eileen Williams; and three brothers, Lester, Marvin, and Myron Guiler.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Hughes of Asheville, North Carolina, and Grace (John) Bates of Sarahsville; seven grandchildren, Heather Hughes, Mandy Hughes, Holly Hughes, Ashley Hughes, Zachary (Aerica) Bates, Justin Bates, and Eric Bates; two great-grandchildren, Owen Bates and Emmitt Bates; one sister, Juanita Graham of New Concord; a sister-in-law-, Lynn Guiler; a brother-in-law, Rick Cornell; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, November 14, 2022, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 12 p.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
