Lillian “Ruth” Irwin

Lillian “Ruth” Irwin, age 89, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, December 2, 2022, at SE  Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. She was born July 23, 1933, in Marietta, daughter of the late Austin and Edith Fogle Thomas. Ruth was a graduate of Belle Valley High School. She was a beloved mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church, where she served as the church secretary, a substitute Sunday School teacher, and was an active volunteer for Vacation Bible School. She served as a poll worker in Brookfield Twp. for the Noble County Board of Elections. She loved mowing and caring for her yard and working on her farm. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jay D. Miller; her second husband, Charles G. Irwin; one daughter, Trish (Johnny) Buckey; one sister, Donna (Kenneth) Nichols; and one brother, Dean (Ruby) Thomas.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen R. (Bob) Mikes of Belle Valley and Debbie S. (Dan) Carpenter of Summerfield; 9 grandchildren, Joe, Jr. (Katiuska), Julie, Jill, Rachel (Guy), Angie, John, Drew, Devanni (Chris) and Dayna (Daniel) ; 11 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Caleb (Kayla), Garet, Madison, Julius, Joey, III, Riley, Connor, Farrah, Bryce, and Kynzlee; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Lyric, Lux, Dorian, and Henley; a nephew whom she raised, Tim Nichols of Caldwell; and several additional nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be observed Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 11AM at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery with Ken Perkins officiating. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family. An online guestbook may be signed at www.mcvay-perkins.com
