Man Attacks Several People, including Sheriff’s Deputy

Justin Hallowell

Noble County Sheriff Jason Mackie reported that on January 28, Noble County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic incident at 217 Bridge Street. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the caller who advised that the suspect, Justin Hallowell, had attacked his mother and one of their neighbors before retreating into his apartment nearby. Deputies reportedly responded to Hallowell’s apartment to further investigate the matter.

Sheriff Mackie said that after initial attempts to make contact went unanswered, Hallowell subsequently opened his door, sprinted towards the deputy, and proceeded to attack, unprovoked. Following a brief altercation Hallowell was subdued and taken into custody. Deputies called for United Ambulance to medically clear Hallowell before he was ultimately transported to the Noble County Jail. Upon completion of the investigation, Hallowell was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, Assault, and Domestic Violence. The Sheriff said Hallowell remained in custody at the jail on a bond of $50,000.
