Lloyd Leon Moncrief

Lloyd Leon Moncrief age 87, of Lowell, Ohio, passed away in the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at his home on the family farm. He was born March 10, 1936 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Earl and Hattie Fouts Moncrief.

He graduated from the former Lowell High School in 1954. Lloyd served and protected his nation in the US Army in the 643D Engineer Company Pipeline in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Later retired from GE Plastics with over 30 years of service. He had a great love for farming and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. You could almost always find him accompanied by his dog “Poohbear” on tractor rides and on the side-by-side. Afterward they would share some butterscotch candies. Lloyd was loved dearly by his friends and family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Basil, Arden, and Richard “Dick” Moncrief.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Ruth Martin Moncrief whom he married May 26, 1961; children Tammy (Charlie) Kirchner of Caldwell, Steven (Autumn) Moncrief of Lowell, and Rusty (Stephanie) Moncrief of Caldwell; nine grandchildren who he enjoyed greatly Julia, Gavin, Bryce, Ethan, Caileigh, Jamie, Landyn, Arielle, and Gabriel; great-grandchild George; sister Retha Amos of Cutler, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, followed by a funeral service held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with his son Rusty Moncrief officiating.
