Robert “Bob” Evilsizer

Robert “Bob” Evilsizer, 87, passed away March 21, 2023 at his home in Tellico Village, Tennessee.  He was born June 20, 1935 in Caldwell, Ohio to Charles Sanford and Ruth Bea (Fouch) Evilsizer.

Bob graduated from Caldwell High School in 1953, where he played varsity football.  He then attended Marietta College where he played football until he joined the United States Marine Corps.  Upon leaving the Marine Corps, he returned to Caldwell and joined the family business, Evilsizers’ Plumbing & Heating.  After several years in business, he went to work for Central Ohio Coal as a Master Electrician where he worked for 22 years on the “Big Muskie” dragline.  He retired following the death of his wife, Garnet, later remarried and moved to Tellico Village in 2004.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Garnet Clark Evilsizer in 1994 and his sister Sally Sue Stepp in 2022.

Bob is survived by his wife Sandra Wright Evilsizer, who he married in 1999, son Todd (Amelita) Evilsizer, daughter Meg (Phillip) Spear.  Grandchildren Sam Spear, Julie (Corbin) Dale, Luke Spear, Garnet Evilsizer, and Danton (MacKenzie) Evilsizer.  His great grandchildren, Scarlette, Penny and Max survive him, along with several nieces and nephews.  His is also survived by step-children Charles Wright, Karen (Bill) Bass and Elizabeth (Brian) Smith and seven step-grandchildren.

Bob was Past Master of Olive Lodge #210 F&AM and a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio.  He was a former member of the Caldwell Volunteer Fire department, and was very active in the UMWA while employed at Central Ohio Coal. He is a proud member of the Marine Corps League and Marine Corp Association, attending reunions of the “Birdcage” Marines at various bases.  He was a Life member of the American Legion.  He was a member of the Caldwell United Presbyterian Church as a youth and the Caldwell United Methodist Church.

When Bob and Sandra moved to Tellico Village they joined the Community Church at Tellico Village.  They enjoyed many of the activities in the church and Village where Bob especially enjoyed card club activities. He and Sandra have enjoyed traveling the US, including Alaska and Northern New York where his children live and had a great time trying various cruise line adventures.

Bob was a lifelong lover of dogs and has earned the devotion of many dogs throughout his life.  He is survived by Buddy, a faithful, loyal, and loving sidekick.

Bob wished to be cremated and placed in the Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio.  There will be a memorial service at the Community Church at Tellico Village on April 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm.  The service will be live streamed (Tellicochurch.org) for relatives and friends who cannot attend.
