Alvira Mary Miley

Alvira Mary Miley, 66, formerly of Sarahsville, passed away Tuesday (April 25, 2023) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.

She was born April 9, 1957 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Walter Miley and Dortha Mae (Morrison) Miley.

Alvira was a 1975 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where she worked as a stage hand for the high school drama department and was a four-year member of the FFA Parliamentary Team.  Later, she was a cast member for five years at the Living Word Outdoor Drama.

Alvira worked as an aide at Golden Rule Schools for many years.  She volunteered at Sarahsville Elementary School and also at the Cambridge Senior Citizens Center.  Alvira mowed for the Coen Cemetery and had worked at the Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly. 

Alvira was a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School classes.  She was also a member of the UMW.

One of her favorite pass-times was her work with the Noble County Genealogical Society.  She was very proud of her research and contributions to family histories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kiel Miley.

She is survived by a brother, Ike (Nancy) Miley of West Union; a sister, Eva Miley (Fritz Ritterbeck) of Sharon; a sister-in-law, Shirley Miley of Senecaville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.

Visitation will be held Friday (April 28, 2023) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Porter officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Alvira’s name to the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church.
