Joseph W. “Joe” Schockling

Joseph W. “Joe” Schockling, age 68, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, May 14, 2023, at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born December 14, 1954, in Zanesville, son of the late Edward Carl and Carolyn Ann Archer Schockling. Joe was a 1973 graduate of Caldwell High School. He retired from Detroit Diesel in Cambridge and worked for many years at the Mahle plant in Caldwell. Joe was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, and together with his brother John and their father, operated a family farm in Fulda. Joe loved his granddaughter and was devoted to his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-and-mother-in-law, Walter and Jewel Powell.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn J. Powell Schockling, whom he married July 2, 1977; his son, Matthew J. Schockling of Pleasant City; his granddaughter, Mikayla Schockling; his siblings, John Schockling, Ann (Tom) Michel, and Barbara E. (Angelo) Massaro, all of Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Thomas Nelson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
