Head on Collision Near Ava

Noble County Sheriff Jason Mackie reported that his deputies responded to a head-on collision on Rayner Road (CR 12) Wednesday afternoon, August 9. “The drivers of both vehicles were 16-year old males,” Sheriff Mackie said. “We’ve yet to determine blame for the accident but it appears the driver of a dirt bike may have been eastbound in a westbound lane.”

According to Sheriff Mackie, a 16-year old driver of a dirt bike was eastbound on Rayner Road one-quarter mile west of Ava when it struck a car head-on. The dirt bike driver was ejected into a barbed wire fence.

United Ambulance and the Belle Valley Fire Department were called to the scene to help remove the dirt bike driver from the fence. Med Flight arrived at the scene and flew the dirt bike driver to a Columbus hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries and released.

The incident is under investigation.
