Helen Louise Moore

Helen Louise Moore, age 95, of Marysville, formerly of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at Monarch Skilled Nursing in Marysville. She was born March 6, 1928, in Coal Ridge, daughter of the late Harry and Maggie Way Hickman. She was a graduate of Belle Valley High School and took adult education nursing classes in Zanesville. Helen was employed as a clerk/secretary at the former Sohio station in Caldwell and as a nurse’s aide at the Union County Home in Marysville. She was a member of the Ava Free Methodist Church and attended the Beech Grove Chapel in Cambridge. She loved reading, sewing, working crossword and word search puzzles, and going to bingo and Bible study. The greatest joy of Helen’s life was her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Carl Moore, whom she married December 25, 1947, and who died April 10, 1999; two sons, Alan C. Moore, who died December 27, 2019, and Robert Shawn Moore, who died January 23, 2006; and two brothers, Donald Eugene Hickman and Harry Robert Hickman.

Surviving are her daughter, Gloria E. (David) Friend of Marysville; four grandchildren, Scot (Tiffani) Friend, Becky (Travis) Carpenter, Julie Kern, and David Bryan Moore; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Moore of Pleasant City; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 12-2 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with  Rev. Dr. Robert Buckley officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Health Loving Care Hospice, 779 London Ave., Marysville, Ohio, 43040.
