Martha L. Moore

Martha L. Moore, age 88, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge. She was born September 23, 1935, in Zanesville, daughter of the late John Gibson and Ada Grace Fowler Gibson. Martha was a 1953 graduate of Sarahsville High School. She retired from Noble Local Schools as an elementary teacher’s aide following 25 years of service. She was a band mother, band booster, and chaperone. She was a long-time member of the Bates Hill Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for pre-school children and helped prepare church dinners. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes at the senior apartments and working word search puzzles. Martha was always concerned about others. She was devoted to her children and her family, always opening her home to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Moore, whom she married August 1, 1953, and who died January 10, 2017; two sons-in-law, David T. Korte and Anthony H. “Tony” Modock; and one brother, Kenneth Gibson.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki L. Modock of Caldwell and Deborah S. Korte and Lori A. Graves (John Carter, III), both of Sarahsville; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers-and-sisters-in law; and many friends.

Friends may call Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, and Wednesday, October 18 from 10-11 a.m. at Bates Hill Church of Christ in Sarahsville, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Village View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
