Frank J. “Jon” Bennett
Frank J. “Jon” Bennett, III, age 72, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at his home. He was born September 12, 1951, in Cambridge, son of the late Frank J. and Betty E. Smith Bennett, Jr. Jon was a 1969 graduate of Bluffton High School and was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, having served on the USS Myles C. Fox, DD828. He owned and operated Bennett Plastics in Cambridge and served as comptroller for Orme Hardware in Cambridge for many years. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, the Cambridge Kiwanis, Elks, Moose and VFW. Jon was an avid bowler and golfer and he enjoyed playing cards. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanie A. Law Bennett, whom he married March 9, 1974; two daughters, Stephanie L. Bennett of Columbus and Samantha N. (Brooks) Purdy of Amesville; two grandchildren, Chase Purdy, age 6, and Layla Purdy, who is almost 4; his siblings, Joe Bennett of Cambridge and Terri (Paul) Capps of Garner, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with the Rev. Fr. Nicholas Ginnetti officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
