Natalie J. McElfresh Fanell

Natalie J. McElfresh Fanell, age 45, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Byesville, Ohio under the care of Shrivers Hospice. She was born October 22, 1978 in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of Tom and Joyce Ogle McElfresh.

She was a 1996 graduate of Caldwell High School. She enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with family, gardening, art and beekeeping.

She was a stay at home mother for many years, then went on to graduate Nursing School in 2021. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer the same week she graduated.

She began chemotherapy followed by surgery. After a lengthy recovery, Natalie worked as an RN caring for others at The Ohio State University and Capital University. In addition to her role as a nurse, she also worked for a while as a clinical instructor where she contributed to the training of the next generation of nurses.

She was preceded in death by her son Dominic Thomas Fanell.

In addition to her parents, those left to celebrate her life are her husband Joseph Fanell, whom she married December 14, 2002; her children Jamison, Jocelyn, and Justin, all of the home; sister Neva King; brother Clinton (Alexandria) McElfresh, niece Genevieve McElfresh and nephew Trennedy King.

The family received friends for a Celebration of her Life Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724.

The Family would like to extend thanks, including but not limited to Shriver’s Hospice, Keith Community Church, Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service. We would also like to thank Friends, Family, and neighbors for their love, prayers, encouragement and support during this time and throughout Natalie’s illness.
