Gregory “Greg” A. Heppner

Gregory “Greg” A. Heppner age 76, of Byesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born September 29, 1947 in Cambridge, Ohio, a son of the late William “Bill” Heppner and Eva Krupa Daugherty.

He retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, following 30 years of service to his Nation. Greg was a 1965 graduate of Caldwell High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the College of Steubenville. He was a member of Christ Our Light Parish in Guernsey County having attended St. Benedict Catholic Church. He enjoyed bird watching in his free time and always had a love for nature.

He is survived by his sister Mary Heppner of Caldwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 228 N. 7th Street, Cambridge, OH 43725, with Father Nicholas Ginnetti serving as celebrant. Following the Mass, Greg will be laid to rest near his father Bill in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio, with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.     We were together at college for four years and we always found Greg to be a good loyal friend. He had a for love classical music and was quick to share it with everyone. He will be missed. May he join the rest of the saints in heaven.
