By Tara Estadt

The SHS boys and girls indoor track teams were back at New Concord, for a 2nd time, on February 4th. There were over 1,000 meet entries of athletes representing nearly 70 different schools.

I enjoy getting a head start on the outdoor season. And my favorite part about indoor track is competing with my friends,” stated SHS sophomore, Braxton Barnett. He was the top point scorer for the team, with a 1st place finish in the high jump (6’5”) and the 200m dash (23.73). Barnett also went on to place 3rd in the long jump (20’ 9.25”) and 4th in the 60m hurdles (8.50). The boys 4x800m relay team (Andrew Neff, Peyton Forshey, Nathan Noll, Ethan Stritz; 10:21.08) and 4x400m relay team (Chuck Estadt, Christian Dimmerling, Emmitt Slevin, Peyton Forshey; 4:24.37) both scored points with 7th place finishes.

The girls team earned 10 points, led by Ida Estadt who placed 2nd in the 3200m race (12:09.07). The 4x400m relay team (Ida Estadt, Jusdena Clark, Abbey Tewksbary, Lorelei Shaufl) earned 7th place at 5:22.30.
