Floyd H. Steed

Floyd H. “Babe” Steed, age 83, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born August 23, 1940, in Noble County, son of the late Floyd William and Dorothy Evelyn Kohut Steed. Floyd was a 1958 graduate of Belle Valley High School. He retired as an inspector for the former Mahle plant in Caldwell in 2009, and was founder and president of Noble Water Company, retiring in 2023. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley, for which he was caretaker for Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Belle Valley. As a child, Floyd was a standout baseball player for Babe Ruth baseball, and he was an avid Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns fan. He coached colt and pony league baseball teams in Belle Valley and served as assistant coach for the Shenandoah Zeps baseball team. Floyd was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who set a good example for his family. He was a devoted man of faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two grandsons, Tyler J. Steed and Tony A. Steed; one sister, Florence J. Bartoletta; and two brothers, Ralph W. Steed and an infant brother.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey M. Mizik Steed, whom he married in November, 1979; his children, Tony A. (Joann) Steed of Caldwell, F. James (Gail) Steed of Belle Valley, Donna M. (John) Biedenbach of Sarahsville, Gary D. (Mel) Steed of Belle Valley, and Michael D. Steed of Belle Valley; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James F. (Dolares) Steed of Sarahsville and Charles J. Steed of Coal Ridge; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Thursday, February 29th at 10:30AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Nelson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
