John W. “Jody” Gray, Jr.

John W. “Jody” Gray, Jr., age 63, of Waterford, Ohio, died Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his home. He was born October 30, 1960, in Cambridge, son of the late John W. and Ruth E. Glidden Gray, Sr. Jody was a 1979 graduate of Caldwell High School, where he was a stand-out athlete in football and track. He attended Marietta College, where he played football. He owned and operated Jody Gray Finishes. He was a long time member of the Marietta F&AM, the Lowell Moose, Lowell Sons of the American Legion, and the Beverly Eagles. Jodi enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he especially loved building, woodworking, carving, and whittling. He was a great father and teacher to his children.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Sally Hittle.

Surviving are his children, John Benjamin “Ben” (Candi) Gray of Macksburg, Charles Matthew “Matt” (Abby) Gray of Caldwell, and Brittany Jo (Wesley) Burks of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; 7 grandchildren; the mother of his children, Melody Gray of Macksburg; one sister, Catherine J. (Pat) McMillin of Malta; and two nephews.

Friends may call Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
