The Mid Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame Hall Announces 2024 Induction Class

Ten new members from a seven county region in Ohio and West Virginia make up the 26th class for the Hall of Fame.
The Inductees include:
Bryan Canterbury-Jackson County: Canterbury coached the Ravenswood High School cross country and track teams. His Red Devils boys cross country teams won 9 consecutive state championships from 2000-2008. His Ravenswood girls track teams won 5 state championships.
Michael Cox- Pleasants County: Cox was a record setting multisport athlete at St. Marys High school. He rushed for nearly 3,300 yards for the Blue Devils football team, earning first team all state honors for his junior and senior seasons. Cox also earned a state championship in the 110 meter high hurdles for the St. Marys track team.
Janet Frazier- Wirt County: Frazier excelled in both basketball and volleyball at Wirt County High School. She went on to play on the collegiate level at Fairmont State College. Following her playing days she returned to Wirt County as volleyball coach. She led the Lady Tigers to an unprecedented 11 Class A State., championships.
H. Dugan Hill- Noble County: Hill earned All State honors as a part of Caldwell High School’s State Champion Cross Country team in 1973. He went on to coach cross country and track and field for his alma mater. Hill’s boys cross country teams won six state championships and 3 second place finishes.
Megan McAuley- Washington County: McAuley was a talented 4 sport athlete for Marietta High School earning a total 14 varsity letters in basketball, cross country, soccer and track. She topped the 1,000 point mark in basketball, set two school records as a runner for the Tigers track team, and contributed to league champion efforts in cross country and soccer
David R. Mossor- Ritchie County- Mossor is in his 41st season as head softball coach at Ritchie Country High School. His Lady Rebel teams have averaged more than 20 wins a season for his enfire career for a sparking winning percentage of .725. Mossor’s teams won conference championships 24 times. In the post season, his team’s qualified for the State tournament 17 times with two state championships and eight runner-up finishes.
Tim Phillips- Wood County- Phillips was a championship swimmer on the high school, college, national and international levels. He was an eight time state championship swimmer at Parkersburg High school where he earned high school All American status. Phillips earned All American status for 4 years running at Ohio State. He was a member of USA national swim team and competed for his country all over the world.
Rod O’Donnell- Washington County- O’Donnell, a Belpre High School graduate has put together championship winning teams in cross country and track and field on the prep level in both Ohio and West Virginia. He was named Ohio cross country coach of the year afer his Hudson High School team won state championships in 2014 and 2021, earning WV Coach of the Years honors for both seasons.
Fred Sauro- Wood County: Sauro is the all time winningest coach in WV girls high school baskeball. His coaching career spans 54 years, including 38 years as a girls coach. Sauro coached Williamstown high school to 11 state basketball tournament appearances earning one state championship and three runner-up finishes. He’s earned girls basketball Coach of the Year honors on both the national and state levels.
Jim Wharton- Wood County: Wharton is the retired Sports Director at WTAP-TV where he headed up the sports department from 1984-2021. The Parkersburg Catholic graduate established the award winning “Football Frenzy” high school football highlights show. Wharton also won Associated Press awards in Ohio and West Virginia for Outstanding Sports Operation, Best Regularly Scheduled Sportscast, and Best Sports Anchor- Small Market TV. He was also honored by the Associated Press of the Virginias with a Lifetime Achievment Award.
The Mid Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be honored with an induction banquet on June 8 at the Grande Point Center in Vienna. Tickets are $50 per person. For Ticket information email Don Ullmann at:
