James Lee “Jim” Pangle
James Lee “Jim” Pangle, age 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born May 3, 1938, in Caldwell, son of the late Earl and Stella Angelo Pangle. Jim attended Caldwell High School and retired as a night shift supervisor from International Converter following many years of service. Following his retirement, he drove for Dunning Motors in Cambridge. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell. Jim coached men’s softball leagues in Caldwell, including the Don-El Pallet team. He also coached little league baseball in Caldwell with his brother Bill. He enjoyed watching Ohio State football and buying lottery tickets, and he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing various sports. He was known as Papaw Pangle.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Alice Shelton; three sisters, Janice Williams, Carol Roberts, and Shirley Fogle; and two brothers, Earl “Bill” Pangle, Jr., and Richard “Dick” Pangle.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Marks Pangle, whom he married in November, 1959; his children, Susan A. (John) Schwytzer of West Milton, Jennifer A. (Michael) Hesson of Dexter City, and Sandra A. (Michael) Senter of Mansfield; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Mary) Pangle of Caldwell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, April 18 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brent DeWees officiating.
