John S. Gaydos

John S. Gaydos, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres. He was born March 26, 1937, in Belle Valley, son of the late Stephen Francis and Helen Elizabeth Durichko Gaydos. He was a 1957 graduate of Belle Valley High School and was a United States Army veteran, having served from 1959-1961. John retired as a machine operator from the Mahle plant in Caldwell following 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, the Belle Valley American Legion Post # 641, the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #386, Cambridge. John was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers. He enjoyed baking cakes with his wife, Marlene, for 45 years, and delivering delicious cookies she baked to McVay-Perkins Funeral Home.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Gaydos.
Surviving are wife, Marlene S. Archer Gaydos, whom he married April 16, 1966; his children, John S. (Tammy) Gaydos, Jr. and Elizabeth A. “Beth” (Dwayne) DeLancey, all of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Victoria G. Gaydos, Paige E. Gaydos, and Stephen K. Gaydos, all of Caldwell; three step-grandchildren, Steve DeLancey, Abigail DeLancey, and Chaise DeLancey, all of Caldwell; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray J. (Beth) Gaydos of Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 2-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a family rosary will follow visitation at 8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Wednesday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Thomas Nelson and Rev. Fr. Dale Tornes as celebrants. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
