James H. Williams

James H. Williams, age 86, of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, died Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres in Caldwell. He was born October 16, 1937, in Mt. Ephraim, son of the late Reese H. Williams and Edith Cartright Williams. He was a 1955 graduate of Sarahsville High School and he was a member of the Ohio National Guard. Jim retired as a tool maker for the Dana Corporation in 1999. He was an active, longtime scout master for the Boy Scouts of America, for which he received the Distinct Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He was a Scout Master for Mt. Ephraim Troop #508, having served as District Commissioner and Council Commissioner board member. He was a member of the Olive Lodge #210, F&AM, for which he served as past Master, a member of the 18th Ohio Masonic District, for which he served as past District Deputy Grand Master, a member of the Valley of Cambridge, AASR, 33 degree Mason, for which he was past Commander and Chief, member of the Alladin Temple Shrine in Columbus, and member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies. Jim was a dedicated member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church and a certified United Methodist lay speaker.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Janet I. Hinkley; and one nephew, James D. Chlovechok, M.D.

Surviving are one nephew, John R. (Ginny) Chlovechok of Waverly; and one niece, Julie (Chuck) Laishley of Cambridge.

Friends may call Friday, August 16, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church, 51037 Mud Run Road, Sarahsville, where a Masonic Service will be observed at 12:45PM. The funeral service will follow visitation at 3 p.m. with Pastor Tom Matus officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery.
