Charles J. “Chick” Steed
Charles J. “Chick” Steed, age 86, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres. He was born July 23, 1938, in Noble County, son of the late Floyd William and Dorothy Evelyn Kohut Steed. He was a 1956 graduate of Belle Valley High School and he retired from W. T. Humphrey Mechanical in North Carolina. Chick was instrumental in developing water and sewer lines through the Belle Valley community and was a board member for the Noble Water Company. He was a devoted man of faith who attended the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he served as a nursing home minister and youth group leader. He enjoyed playing bingo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Smith Steed, whom he married June 28, 1975, and who died February 7, 2015; one sister, Florence J. Bartoletta; and three brothers, Floyd H. “Babe” Steed, Ralph W. Steed, and an infant brother.
Surviving are his children, Lisa L. (Timothy) Stillion of Senecaville, Joey (Jimmy) Freeman of Caldwell, Cyndi J. (Tony) Watson of Cozumel, Mexico, Kerri L. (Jeff) Bond and Jody A. Carter, all of London, Kentucky; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, James (Delores) Steed of Sarahsville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday, October 9 at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
