Clair Jay Schwendeman
Clair Jay Schwendeman, age 75, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 20, 1949, in Marietta, son of the late Clair Joseph and Edna Ellen Hupp Schwendeman. Jay was a 1967 graduate of Fort Frye High School and was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He retired as a truck driver for Leslie Equipment in Marietta, for whom he delivered heavy equipment for 36 years. He continued to work there part-time following his retirement. He was active with the Lowell American Legion. Jay enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr., and watching football, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Ramona Schwendeman.
Surviving are his wife, Michelle A. Mazgay Schwendeman, whom he married in 2003; one son, Shayne Scott (Tammy) Schwendeman of Vincent; his step-children, Alan B. (Amy) McPeek, II, of Batesville, Julie A. (Nate) Smith of Sarahsville, Dustin C. (Alicia) Nau of Stafford, and Donnie R. (Dee) Nau of Caldwell; 2 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; his siblings, Nora E. Miller of Marietta, Sophia A. (Leroy) Rauch of Waterford, Virginia T. (Howard) Cothern of Devola, Sue E. (Tom) Bechtel of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Rebecca J. (Tom) Britton of Lowell, Mary Jo (Rick) Mintz of Riverton, Wyoming, Bernadette M. Wears of Waterford, Michael J. (Jeanie) Schwendeman of Lexington, South Carolina, Roland A. (Jane) Schwendeman of Lowell, and Donald W. (Kim) Schwendeman of Cumming, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 1-4PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 4PM with Roland A.
