Terry L. Perkins

Terry L. Perkins, age 77, of Cambridge, Ohio, died Monday, December 30, 2024, at Cambridge Place Assisted Living. He was born July 10, 1947, in Ava, son of the late Kenneth E. Perkins, Sr. and the late Clara J. Miller Perkins. Terry attended Shenandoah High School and was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was the recipient of three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was formerly employed at Westinghouse and Hamilton Beach Scoville in Byesville. Terry attended the Ava Free Methodist Church and was a life member of the Cambridge VFW, the Cambridge DAV, and the Guernsey County Purple Heart Club. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and wallpapering, and he was devoted to his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Anthony Brian Perkins; three sisters, Maxine Jackson, Eileen Butler, and Teresa Clark; one brother, Kenneth E. Perkins, Jr.; and two half-brothers, Tim Buckey and Charles “Fred” Buckey.

Surviving are his wife, Jeannie Kay Morrow Perkins, whom he married July 3, 1967; his children, Terry J. (Samantha) Perkins and Anthony B. Perkins, all of Cambridge, and Jessica G. (Mike) Mottley of Thornville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joann Powell of Caldwell, Sandy Clark of Suwanee, Georgia, Diane Morton of Caldwell, Clayton Perkins of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Mitchell (Jacquie) Perkins of Caldwell; his half-siblings, Lynn Cox of Cambridge, Deborah (Gary) Bush of Salem, Jim (Lora) Perkins of Caldwell, and Tom (Angie) Perkins of Cambridge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Byesville, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 1PM with Pastor John Powell and Ken Perkins officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery in Ava. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell is caring for the family.
