Shenandoah Boys Edge Barnesville in Tight Contest, Improve to 5-5

By Justin Carpenter

The Shenandoah Zeps boys basketball team secured a hard-fought 53-47 victory over the visiting Barnesville Shamrocks on Wednesday night. The win brought the Zeps back to .500 on the season at 5-5, giving them some momentum heading into a brief break before their next game.
Junior forward Braxton Barnett led the way for Shenandoah with a standout performance, scoring 17 points and consistently making key plays on both ends of the court. He was supported by Colten McElfresh, who added 11 points in the effort. The duo’s contributions were critical in holding off a determined Barnesville squad that refused to go quietly.
The game was close throughout, with Barnesville pushing the pace and keeping the score within striking distance. However, the Zeps’ defense held firm in the final minutes, securing the victory with clutch free throws and timely stops.
The Zeps now have their sights set on Saturday’s road trip to Philo, where they’ll face a tough challenge. The frequent schedule changes due to postponed games have made consistency a challenge, but the team is embracing the uncertainty.
Stay tuned for updates on the Zeps’ postponed games as they are rescheduled and played. Meanwhile, Shenandoah will look to keep climbing the standings as they prepare for the stretch run of their season.
