Diane Lee Bates

Diane Lee Bates, age 84, of Marietta, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025.  She was born April 30, 1941 in Caldwell, daughter of the late Marion and Margaret Hendershot Ogle.  Diane was a 1959 graduate of Caldwell High School and a graduate of Bliss Business College in Columbus. She was a member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ in Marietta. Diane was a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved sewing and working Sudoku Puzzles. Her favorite times were spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always ready to travel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Arlen Bates, whom she married December 23, 1960 and who died September 7, 2023, and her son-in-law Benjamin Heppner.

Surviving are her daughters, Yvonne Renee (Grant) Elliott and Wendy D. Heppner, both of Marietta; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Cawley Hospice Team for their kind care.

Per Diane’s wishes no visitation or service will be observed at this time. An inurnment service will be held later.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, 90 Mt.
