Lois E. Briggs

Lois E. Briggs, age 78, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2026, at Genesis Hospital. She was born October 10, 1947, in Muskingum County, daughter of the late Charles R. and Virginia Paxton Doan. Lois was a 1965 graduate of Caldwell High School. Over the years, she worked for The Clothes Tree, LeJays, and Henery Jewelers in Caldwell. She also worked at the Dexter City Antique Mall for over 25 years. She was an active member in Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and Noble County Performing Arts. Most important to Lois was her faith in Jesus, wanting her family to know Him as well as other people she knew. Lois was a prayer warrior and great friend to many. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Caldwell, where she worked in the nursery and the AWANA program, and cooked at Pine Lake Bible Camp. She loved traveling and going to Curves. Lois loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are so many wonderful things to say about Lois and those who knew her understood.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Michelle Brown, who passed away November 19, 1992; a brother, Larry W. Doan, who passed away March 7, 1960; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Pilcher.

Lois married her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Ronald L. Briggs, on July 2, 1966. Together, they shared two daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Sanford and Amy Brown. The family expanded to include 6 grandchildren, Cameron Brown (Maya), Caleb Sanford (Lyz), Halle (Jonathan) Miller-Niswonger, Gracie (Michael) Haga, Isaiah Brown (Faythe) and Cheyenne Brown; 5 great-grandchildren, Henry and Ellis Miller-Niswonger, Riley Haga, and Addison and Magnolia Brown. Also included in the family are her step-mother, Patricia Garwood, Chris Brown, Missy Brown, and Vedad Rogers. Those left to cherish her memory are two brothers, Phil Doan and Charles (Carol) Doan; her sisters, Faith Nichols and Rachel K. (Brandon) Franklin; a special niece, Melissa Hepner; brothers-in-law, Gary (Barb) Briggs and Fred (Susan) Briggs; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Tom) Courson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 2-6 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, April 20th, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.
