Noel Leon McFarland
Noel Leon McFarland, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born May 31, 1938, on the family farm near Crooked Tree son of the late Delmer R. and Edith Darrah McFarland. Noel attended Jackson School, was a 1956 graduate of Dexter City High School and a 1957 graduate of Rigglemar Barber School. Noel was a Caldwell fixture, having owned Noel’s Barber Shop on the square for over 60 years. His shop was not just a place to get a trim, but a gathering spot for lively conversation, with Noel always having a tale to tell. He was especially fond of his morning group at the shop. Noel was a member and honorary member of the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department for many years, a social member of Caldwell Post #4721 VFW, a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2952 in Caldwell, and the Noble County Senior Citizens. He was inducted into the Noble County Basketball Hall of Fame and was an Emergency Medical Technician. Noel loved traveling, bird watching and squirrel hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Neil McFarland.
Surviving are his children, Renee’ Sue McFarland (Matt Clark) of Caldwell, Lisa Lynn (Donald) Shaw of Caldwell and Kirk Patrick (Robi) McFarland of Whigville; his grandchildren, Cory (Melissa) Swope, Brittany (Joe) Powell, Dalton (Jaden) Cowgill and Halie (Tyler) Wiley; his great-grandchildren, Carter Powell and Carson Wiley; his sister-in-law, Anne McFarland; his niece, Tammy Curry and nephew Scott McFarland.
Friends may call Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street in Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, Ohio.
