Richard Allen “Dick” Davis
Richard Allen “Dick” Davis of Cumberland, Ohio, passed away at his home on August 20, 2026. Born on October 5, 1933, in Cambridge, Ohio, he was the second son of Arthur Wilson Davis and Neva Mae Hanes Davis. In his early youth, Dick lived in rural Senecaville before moving and working on his family’s farm in Cumberland. He was a 1952 graduate of Cumberland High School, where he played basketball for the Vikings. Following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Marie Bruner, who preceded him in death in 1970. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Monroe Grading, Sands Mining, and Sidwell Brothers until his retirement. He served as a Brookfield Twp. Trustee for 16 years and continued to live on his Noble County farm until his death.
As an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman, Dick enjoyed sharing his talents with many youth, spending countless hours baiting hooks, calling turkeys, and planning deer hunts. Gardening was a passion he acquired from his wife’s grandmother, Ruth Bruner Koontz, as she helped him raise his children. He enjoyed sharing his flowers and produce with family, friends, and neighbors. Later in life, he became a beekeeper, passing this passion on to his grandson, Ben.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Lee (Wanda) Davis, Robert (Annie) Davis, and Gary (Virginia) Davis; his in-laws, Harry (Alice) Bruner, Cora (Ike) Lewis, and John Wiseman; and many of his hunting and fishing buddies.
