Amy Jo Porter

Amy Jo Porter, age 44, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Monday, February 13, 2023, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born March 1, 1978, in Cambridge, daughter of Carol Patricia Prunty Mizik of Belle Valley and the late James  Leo “Jim” Mizik. Amy was a 1996 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where she was member and president of the National Honor Society, and in the 10 top students of her class. She was also a member of DECA. She attended Washington State Community College in Marietta where she studied accounting. She was employed as assistant manager for the former Steve’s Cafeteria and Food Center in Caldwell, and she was also employed as assistant manager for Carnes Sunoco in Belle Valley. Amy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley. She enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, especially Christmas movies, shopping, playing the lottery, and collecting miniatures, a hobby she learned from her grandma, Emily Seamster. She also loved penguins. Amy was devoted to her family.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one sister, Melinda Fawn Mizik; and a brother-in-law, Chris Pekari.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, William A. Porter, Jr., whom she married May 16, 1997; her children, Garrett Lee Porter and Jenna Renae Porter, both of Belle Valley; her siblings, Kristie L. Mizik and Melissa D. Mizik (Darin Lucas), all of Belle Valley, and Emily A. Pekari of Cambridge; her father-in-law, William A. Porter, Sr. of Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, February 17, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, February 18 at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
