Shirley M. Rayner

Shirley M. Rayner, age 89, of Caldwell, died Wednesday October 15, 2025, at Altercare Summit Acres in Caldwell.  She was born August 13, 1936, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Gilbert W. and Opal L. White Weekley. Shirley was a graduate of Caldwell High School and had retired from the Noble County Department of Job and Family Services.  She was the longest surviving member of First Church of Christ in Caldwell, where she was a member of the Worthwhile Sunday School Class and had served as church custodian for many years. Shirley had helped prepare and serve hundreds of church dinners and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. Her family will lovingly remember the delicious Sunday Dinners that were a tradition at her house.  Shirley enjoyed following the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a woman of great faith who always helped others and loved to be constantly busy.

In addition to her parents Shirley is preceded in death by an infant great-granddaughter, Kenzie Rose McKee; one great-grandson, Trae DeVolld; three sisters, Louise Velosky, Dorothy Hurst and Janice M. Nichelson; and an infant brother Gilbert Weekley.

Surviving are her children, Sandra Y. (Dennis) Riddle of Caldwell, Jerry D. (Barb) Rayner of Cumberland and Kathy J. (Thomas) McKee of Caldwell; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; Several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Friends may call Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, in Caldwell. The funeral will be observed on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at First Church of Christ, 601 North Street in Caldwell, with Brent DeWees officiating.
