Saundra (Genene) Hannahs Bennett, a devoted wife, mother, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at her home in Burleson, Texas. Born on
November 13, 1935, near Summerfield, Ohio, to Samuel Vernon Hannahs and Grace
Hannahs, Saundra lived a life filled with faith, service, and unwavering family love.
Saundra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Earl Eugene Bennett, whom she married on July 25, 1964; her father, Samuel Vernon Hannahs; her mother,
Grace Hannahs; and her brothers, Eugene, Brice, and Marion.
She is survived by her son, David Bennett; Her daughter-in-law, Karen
Bennett; her grandsons, Joel and Jay (Bethany) Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Harrison and Darcy Bennett, her brother, Bradley Hannahs; and her sisters, Kathy Hannahs and Rosalie Bausch. Saundra’s warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A standout in her youth, Saundra graduated as salutatorian from Batesville High School in
1954 and earned a degree in Executive Secretary from Cambridge College in 1956.
She began her professional journey as a bookkeeper in 1954, serving in that role until 1965, where her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic shone through.
Saundra spent most of her life in Zanesville, Ohio, where she was an active and beloved
member of Westwood Baptist Church. Her commitment to faith and community extended to Business and Professional Women, the Gideons’ Auxiliary, and the Christian Women’s Club. She also volunteered her time generously with Zanesville City Schools, touching countless lives through her kindness and dedication. In September 2021, she relocated to Burleson, Texas, to be closer to family while carrying her spirit of service with her.
A celebration of Saundra’s life will be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully suggested to Westwood Baptist Church, in honor of her lifelong devotion to her faith community.
Saundra’s legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength will endure in the hearts of her
family and friends forever.
Her Memorial Service will be on January 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Westwood Baptist Church in Zanesville
