Gary Lee Sabo

Gary Lee Sabo, age 80, of Granville, Ohio, died Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home.  He was born October 16, 1945, in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late William and Maxine Piergallini Sabo.  He was a 1963 graduate of Caldwell High School and attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University.  Gary retired in 2005 as a  Skilled Trade Journeyman Machinist with the Delphi Division of General Motors in Columbus, with thirty years of service.  He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 969 in Columbus. Gary enjoyed gardening, caring for his Kubota Garden Tractors, crossword puzzles and reading, especially works by Louis L’Amour.  He loved traveling the world, enjoying nice restaurants and good food. Gary was devoted to his family and was often seen at his grandson’s baseball games.

Surviving are his wife, Neva Joan Ogle Sabo, whom he married June 21, 1964; his children, William D. (Tammy) Sabo of Westerville and Paige D. (David) Legg of Pataskala; three grandchildren, Evan Legg of Pataskala, Nicholas Sabo of Westerville and Emily Sabo of Delaware; his sister, Bonnie L. Fiddler of Mingo Junction; his half-siblings, Joseph Patrick “Ty” Popp, Patti Lyons, Beverly Mathews all of Michigan and Nancy Givens of Florida; special cousins, Jerry (Patty) Rocco of Spring, Texas and Shelley Channel of St. Clairsville; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Ogle, and Gloria Jean Robinson; brother-in-law, Edward Ogle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street in Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Food Bank, 1035 Brice Street, Newark, Ohio 43055 or online at www.foodpantrynetwork.net.  An online guestbook may be signed at www.mcvay-perkins.com.

    Gary was a super nice fellow student at Southern Noble High School and I am sure he was as an adult.
